The Räsymatto plate is part of the popular Siirtolpuutarha range by Marimekko. The plate itself was designed by Sami Ruotsalainen, with a pattern design by Maija Louekari. Marimekko is known for giving their products and collections Finnish names. And even though any non-Finn may struggle to pronounce these, when translated, they shed some light on where inspiration for the designs was taken from. “Räsymatto”, for instance, means rag rug – and the imperfect dotted design is inspired by the knots of a classic rag rug. A classic Marimekko design that is popular around the world!
