The Räsymatto bowl was designed by Sami Ruotsalainen for the Finnish design brand Marimekko. The decorative pattern was designed by Maija Louekari. Marimekko is known for giving their products and collections Finnish names that any non-Finn will scramble to pronounce. However, when translated, they do give us hints on where inspiration for the stunning patterns were taken from. Räsymatto, for instance, means rag rug. The slightly irregular polka dot pattern was inspired by the rows of knots that make up the classic rag rug. A beautifun and timeless piece.
