Kappa vase 21 cm, from Swedish brand Kosta Boda, is mouth-blown at Kosta Glasbruk in the Swedish province of Småland. The vase is made using the factory's leftover glass. The pigment in the recycled fragments gives the glass shades of grey and blue, and makes each vase completely unique. The vase was developed by designer Mimmi Blomqvist, based on a drinking glass that she made during her first course at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Instead of cutting off the so-called "coat" ("kappa" in Swedish), the bubble which forms around the vase's edge during production, she let it stay on the outside of the vase, giving the Kappa its name. The vase's soft, flowing shape makes it an artwork in and of itself. Furthermore, the narrow mouth, in contrast to the wide diameter, means that a bouquet of flowers or a couple of twigs sit well together.
