Tuesday, 11 February 2025

International Waffle Day on 25 March originated in Sweden and now delights connoisseurs all over the world. Originally, this day marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, but today it is all about the golden-brown classic. Whether crispy or soft, sweet with berries and cream or savoury with cheese and herbs - waffles offer countless opportunities to get creative. Perfect for treating yourself to a little break and enjoying the day with delicious pastries!

Ingredients:

Portions: 8
  • 100 g butter
  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsb salt
  • 400 ml milk

How to:

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and set aside to cool.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  3. Pour in half the milk and whisk until smooth.
  4. Whisk in the rest of the milk and the melted butter.
  5. Leave the batter to swell for at least 15 minutes, but preferably longer. Make sure that the batter is at room temperature when you start baking, otherwise you will cool down the waffle iron with each baking.
